Spend the day at one of the most scenic country estates in the country. There are two restaurants and an array of activities including an indoor swimming pool, fishing, hiking, cycling, horse-riding, tours of the “state of the art” trout hatchery. For the adrenaline junkies – abseiling, a zipline, and a trapeze jump. Bird of Prey Centre – Kruisfontein Turnoff 082 899 4108
A “must see” when visiting Dullstroom. Children love the bird of prey shows and there is a children’s fishing pond, a small “zoo” of rescued and rehabilitated small wildlife, and of course all the birds in their aviaries.
Verloren Valei Nature Reserve – Birds & Wildlife
This protected nature reserve is roughly 13km outside Dullstroom. It is one of few places in the country to where three of the world’s endangered cranes breed. You will also see a variety of other bird species.

Dullstroom On The Dam
The perfect venue for a family picnic, a spot of fishing and for the adventurous a hike up the Suikerboschkop Mountain. Friendly dogs welcome on a lead.
Clay Pigeon Shooting

Take a drive down to Tonteldoos

Both Town Dams are open to members of the public – the lower dam is strictly a catch and release trophy dam, please note there is a daily fee payable. Access to the dams is through the Caravan park gate.
Mavungana Flyfishing 013 254-0270
Still water & river fishing. Guiding & instruction. Day fishing can be arranged at the following dams, Hacker’s Haven, Jurassic Pond and c&r trophy day waters, Bird of Prey Centre. River fishing on 2kms of the upper Crocodile River.
Day fishing outings are on offer, with the assistance of a Mavungana guide.

Hire of bicycles, as well as repairs. The owner Callen Watson is an experienced mountain bike rider and technician in Dullstroom that can give guidance on trails. He also conducts cycling clinics on request.
Routes you can do on your own
Here are the overviews of a few routes. For the full routes visit the Dullstroom Accommodation website, http://dullstroom.co.za/mountain-biking/ or pop into the Zest office for a printout.
Tonteldoos – De Berg Ring Road:
75 km in total, predominantly dirt road plus a portion of tar, quite a few hectic climbs – NOT FOR THE UNFIT. This route takes you past Tonteldoos, onto the R577, the Nederhorst road and the railway service road.
Short: 43 km in total, predominantly on dirt road with 5km of tar included. This route can be done clockwise (hardcore) or anti-clockwise (wannabe). The route takes you on the R540 (short distance) and then onto the Kruisfontein Road and back to the R540.
Dullstroom to Tonteldoos & back:
A total of 46 km on dirt road with very little traffic. There are a few climbs.
Kruisfontein / Machadodorp Ring Road:
33km in total on predominantly dirt road with 11km of tar. This route takes you on the R540, Machadodorp gravel road, Valyspruit gravel, Kruisfontein tar road and back onto the R540.
14km gravel road. This route is ideal of the beginners or not so fit. It follows the railway service road, up to the De Berg turnoff and back again.
De Berg Rd & back:
42 km of predominantly dirt road. This route takes you along the railway service road and then the De Berg gravel road, returning via the same route.
Elandskloof, Winnaarspoort & Kloppenheim:
76 km in total predominantly on dirt road with 12 km of tar. Breath taking and breath taking views! This route will take you on the R540, Machadodorp gravel road and a number of smaller gravel roads.
Parkrun & Walks
Weekly Parkrun @ Dullstroom on the dam
Dullstroom Parkrun is a free and is a 5km timed walk or run. It happens every Saturday, starting at 8am @ the Dullstroon Town dam. Please note you must register beforehand www.parkrun.co.za.
Hike up the mountain, accessed from Dullstroom on the dam and just follow the trail. Free of charge.
