Good Day All Fisherwomen
The second Dullstroom Ladies Fly Fishing Festival will be held on the weekend of 3 - 5 September 2010, utilising the same three fishing waters in the Dullstroom area as used in 2009. The inaugural event was such a success that it will now be an annual event. The Festival will be open to 30 ladies plus 3 – 5 Celebrities.
Entry will be limited to 30 ladies on a first entry received basis so send your completed entry form as soon as possible and we will then provide the successful applicants with confirmation, banking details etc. The format of the weekend will be as follows: Registration and water draw on Friday 3 September from 17:00. Fishing will be split into three sessions and competitors will fish at each dam over the course of the competition, Saturday morning 06:30 – 10:00, Saturday afternoon 14:30 – 18:00 and Sunday morning 06:30 to 10:00. Each session is 3.5 hours. Lunch and prize giving will be held on the Sunday with a Guest Speaker or live entertainment. Saturday lunch and dinner:- at leisure.
This event will be a fun weekend with competitive fishing but there will also be an element of fundraising for various charitable causes in Dullstroom. The 2009 event raised R17 230 and was distributed to the Rape and Abuse crises centre, the Sakhelwe Soup Kitchen, Epilepsy South Africa, and CANSA. These are ongoing projects constantly needing funds. There are many other worthy causes in Dullstroom requiring funding.
Fabulous prizes will be handed out on the Sunday at the lunch. The main prizes will be awarded for the overall winner, longest bag caught, most fish caught and longest single fish as well as various spot and other prizes for fun categories. Even though the competition is on an individual basis, there will be prizes for the best dressed team (maximum of 4 members per team) and for the team with the longest bag.
The entry fee is R850 which includes: Entry into the competition, snacks and Sparkling Wine at registration, a Gift Pack, early morning coffee, rusks & Old Brown sherry, breakfast packs, transport to and from the fishing waters, various refreshments at the waters, the 3 course Prizegiving Lunch as well as a contribution to charity.
