Address the immediate needs of Charities and Community Groups in the Area. Dullstroom Fundraising nr: Pending Contact: Rita Kemmey - ritak@lantic.net or 082 348 6066 Background Our Mission is to identify needs in the community and to undertake projects to help meet those needs. We support both SANEL and Ingrid Plant's Orphans & Vulnerable Children scheme, as well as other charities in the area - basically ensuring that all money collected is quickly converted into actual 'needs based items' and delivered directly to those that need the help. We have continuous requests for help and do what we can with our limited funds. To date we have completed many fundraising events and also make our needs known to relatives, friends and the people of Dullstroom and appreciate every bit of support we get. All donations and helpful assistance are acknowledged and recorded. A bit more on the two main charities Helping Hands support: Orphans & Vulnerable Children Two years ago volunteers started visiting vulnerable toddlers and children from Sakalwe. Some of the 110 children receive grants like foster-care grants, and others child-care grants, yet many of them have no financial support at all, due to not being registered, or not being in possession of a birth certificate. These children sometimes live in shocking circumstances and need support from the community. Two rooms behind the local Post Office are currently being used to keep clothing and handing out of food parcels. Balanced meals are provided to some toddlers. Thursdays are community soup day for the poor and elderly. Christmas parties are held to bring some joy to the children. SANEL The Epilepsy Centre in Dullstroom provides a 24 hour care service to 142 adults that maintain the social, physical and psychological well being of individuals who, for a variety of reasons are not able to live independently or with their families. The goal is to improve their independence and quality of life. The centre also provides health and care services to 80 people with Epilepsy and other disabilities who live in the immediate communities and attend daily.
